Default cat-delete/bullet muffler question

so currently I have a "poor mans" loudmouth system, aka straight piped from the cats back. it sounds ok, way louder but a bit hollow. Since I'm still on a poor mans budget here, I'm wanting to cut my cats out (no DEQ here) and replace them with some dynomax 12" bullets. Just looking for a bit better of a sound but still loud. Thoughts?

id say leave your cats alone and get a dumped magnaflow bullet in the I pipe. it sounds awesome. and save for the LTs later. if your on budget, a used exhaust is ok. hell it wont matter. you can get lts and y on classified for cheap. good luck.

Here's ours !cats and cut open: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...-w-cutout.html

And here it is at "speed":

A muffler in line (in the intermediate pipe) would be nice to tone it down a hair. Because now when you romp on it, it goes BLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAATTT! Very unrefined.

Hm, I didn't think there was enough space to run bullets in the stock cat location. Either way, I say leave the cats and put a bullet in the y; replacing the cats with bullets isn't going to make the exhaust tone deeper, probably just a bit raspier than what it is now.

Heres mine. I did the cat delete to my car. stock manifolds, no cats, stock y pipe, LM1 exhaust. A month later got a fix it ticket.(LA) now I have it with no y pipe but with cats to keep it sorta quiet.
Heres how it sounded with no cats.
