Default T/A Borla Owners....HELP !!!!

I have a 2000 formula and just put on some T/A bumpers front and rear.......my car had a borla on it when I bought it used.........after putting on the back bumper i was shocked......the tips are NO WHERE near center and are touching the bumper......I put some cardboard by the tips to keep the plastic from burning as the tips get plenty hot.....I see no way to adjust the exhaust to center the tips......seems the distance between tips are pretty much set by borla......i dont have a install manual to see how borla suggests centering tips.......i did write borla and they suggested that i take the car to a muff shop to bend the pipes......my car has never been in a accident so that is not a issue.........anyone???

X3. Mine looks almost exactly like what you posted. I have had it on the car since I bought new in '98. No problems with discolor or heat bumper cover still looks crisp and bright white.

Default Adjustable

I got a Borla on my '99 Formula. From your pics you can see the bolts that holds the tip to the hangers. Try loosening those up and make your adjustments. Hope this helps.

I think you need to loosen the clamps where the over axle pipe goes into the muffler and the push the pipe further into the muffler inlet, that should bring it together closer to center then retighten. Check it out see if it works

Yeah mine don't touch they just sit a little off to the driver side. I couldn't tell that yours were touching from your pics. I had to adjust mine a little when I put it on but it really didn't make much of a difference. Good luck.

I have that exhaust on my '99 Formula, but it has the Formula rear on it so it fits fine. If you would have looked at the Borla website you can see that the part number for the Formula version of the exhaust and the Trans Am version of the exhaust are the same. This means its the same part. That means will was designed around both rear ends, so its fine with the TA rear on it. Sure you can play with the clamps but the system itself is fine.

Your lucky. I had my Corsa on my old Camaro and reused for the T/A unfortunately it was welded by a hack and when transferring it, the pipes were over 4" off and I had to have the system fixed and it was not cheap.

Depending on how movable the system is, you can play with it, or some cutting/re-welding if it was welded originally like mine.

Best shots I could find. Sometimes I wish the tips tucked more in but not a priority.

My borla has a little weird fitment too, not quite as off center as yours though. I'll probably try and address it when TSP finally gets their 1 7/8" headers in so I can finish my exhaust.

Mine fit the exact same way. I ended up loosening all the clamps and with a bottle jack, I started with the tips and tightened everything forward. With the jack, I was able to get the tips high enough but they were still too far apart (touched plastic on both sides) so with a ratcheting strap, I pulled the tips closer and used a torch to heat up the pipes. At that point, they were finally perfect...until I took a drive and 20min later they were crooked as ****

I got tired of straightening (and cleaning) them on a daily basis so I sold the borla tips - put a flanged turn-down on the plate section and a dump on the muffler - then fabbed some custom brackets and fake mounted some 3.5in Corsa Clones. The exhaust doesnt go through them so they never get dirty and never have to be adjusted
