Best intake for DD street/strip car? BBK? LS6?
hey whats going on guys? im thinking of doing a GEN III Hot cam kit from gm performance parts....does those cams suck? LS6 springs....
i was looking for a good intake...i dont want the Fast 102mm intake because im keep the heads stock, maybe just a little porting done?...
has anybody used the BBK? and how does it perform?
is the juice worth the squeeze?

what are your main goals behind getting a cam? do you want more power and sound? or do you want a cam that makes more power with a semi stockish idle? those cams arent baaaaad, but any similar aftermarket cam will give you a lil more power over that. if you want more power, and a similar idle id get the 220 r from tsp

if you want something a little meaner sounding with 10-15 more hp go for the 228r. They also have a sale right now for any cam and beehive valvesprings for 599.......
o and you would be stupid to buy anything other than the ls6 intake........can be found anywhere used for 250-300 bucks and with that 220r cam and ls6 intake id say you would see a 50-60 rwhp difference. any non metal intake is only "DECENT" for 1000 hp cars producing 30 pounds of boost and a 300 shot of nitrous, and thats even stretching it. other than a fast, the only intake good for an ls cathedral port street car is the ls6. if your car is a 2001-2002 than you already have it so cool.

You'll make more power with a FAST intake, especially up top, but if you don't plan on running more than 6500 RPM, the ls6 intake is a good budget friendly choice for a street car.

LS6 on a budget, FAST if you have the cash. BUT, as an exemple, my ported FAST 92mm was only better from 4500-6500rpm than my LS6 with a 22x cam. If youre really thinking about a hot cam kit, go LS6. But I would not run a hotcam kit unless you need to pass emission test.
At least something like a 224/224. TSP 228 or any other similar cam would be my choice for a DD street. EPS 222/226 would be great too ..time to check here-------------------------------------------->

Fast makes more power we all know that.....but, if he can score an LS6 for $300....and a FAST, which would require a TB, would be about $1000, he could buy his cam kit with the $700 left over. My vote goes to LS6.

I made 390rwhp with my hotcam and bbk intake,if you can find an ls6 intake cheap then go for it, F.A.S.T in my opinion is overrated thats like saying nike makes the best shoes because they are the most popular if you plan on spraying n20 go with bbk intake it can be ported and if you have a back fire the intake wont be in a hundred pieces. as for your cam dont jump on anybodys band wagon, find what works best for you do some research, an ls1 "hot cam" is actually better than an ls6 cam, more duration same lift its just the ls6 has a tighter lsa.

Let's see, shall we. All bullshit aside, the F.A.S.T. is the best, and I'll tell you why.
- There are tons of manifold choices although designing an intake manifold that keeps or increases the velocity of the OEM piece is the hard part. It's easy to run a sheetmetal intake, for example, but that is not helpful in any situation.
- Maintaining velocity and increasing flow is the goal. If you can do that, you're already ahead of OEM pieces. The Fuel Air Spark component is also a plastic piece, which will not soak up heat from the engine bay and not add weight to the overall configuration.
- Speed costs money. Dropping a grand on your ride will work if you can obtain the components necessary for the configuration. If not, you're out of luck and cannot run with the best.
- Performance requires time. Throwing a FAST intake on without looking into whether or not porting will work for you is not very smart. A couple hundred for the porting may gain you an additional 15% in flow, which comes to not much more than what you'll pay for unported pieces.
- Racing is not inexpensive. If you're planning on driving on the track, you'll be in upper RPM's for periods of time. You want something that will allow you to keep up the RPMs to fully utilize the potential of the setup.
