Question Header flange to slip on? is it possible to convert?

I have obx longtube headers which use a flange to connect to the y-pipe. It is the similar in design to the flange setup on Kooks headers..I'm looking to buy a tsp true dual setup which only works for slip-on headers (like pacesetters).

Is there a part I can buy that would make the flange (Kooks style) into a slip-on setup (pacesetter style) or will this have to be custom done at an exhaust shop?

I don't really want to use the gutted cat thing shown in the pictures below

Cut the flange off and weld the exhaust to it or have an extension welded on

or cut the collector off and have the one you wanted put in place, but that would probably cost more than the headers.

All i did was cut the flange off with a sawzall and it slid right over, easy as pie.

Sounds good to me. I hate the crappy y-pipe and fake cats that came with my headers.

I know this is kind of dumb, but what would you use to cut stainless steel headers? I tried to cut off the flange last night with a small saw I had laying around and couldn't put a line in it.

If I can't get the flange off easily, I'm just going to buy a 2 bolt flange to slip-on header "reducer" and bolt that on. I think that would work since it is still a 3" pipe and doesn't really reduce the diameter. It just converts it, right?

Any advice. I'm trying to do this in my garage and can't weld so that's out of the question. If all else fails, I'll drive it open header style to an exhaust shop!!!

I would use a sawzall or an angle grinder with a cutting wheel attached to it.

You don't need a special blade, but you'll probably need more than one and they need to be 18 or 24 tooth blades.

What was the outcome of cutting those flanges off of your obx headers and putting on the TSP 3'' y-pipe? I have the obx headers kit in basement waiting to be installed in january. But I dont want to install 3 inch header collectors into a damn 2.5 inch y back up to a three, would like to keep it 3 inches from headers all the way to the I pipe. Like you im thinking about slipping TSP Y overtop of headers.

Cut the flanges off and had someone weld on a little extension pipe. When you cut off the flanges, the headers are too short to meet where the tsp exhaust is supposed to. With the extra pipe welded on where the flanges were, the tsp true duals will bolt up. We went ahead and welded it all on instead of using the clamps
