Default Sensor???

Does anyone know what the sensor/component is on the left side of the block, towards the rear?? I took a pic but it is too big. It is about an inch in diameter and 2 1/2" long. I would like to find a plug for it if anyone makes one. Does it just twist out??

Exactly! GM didn't put those on their gas engines from the factory, they were an accessory add on.. A coolant plug goes there, GM# 12561663, runs about $9 from the dealer. Just un-screw the heater element, it has a hex body around the electrical connection & replace with the # I listed.

Thanks for the help, especially the part number. I was kind of thinking it was a block heater but had never seen one before.
