Default LS2 coils on LS1, need help

Ok, well I was told that LS2 coils and brackets will bolt up to LS1 valve covers just fine. Well I sold my LS1 coils and got a set of LS2 coils and brackets. Upon trying to install them they don't seem to come anywhere close to fitting. Has anybody else done this swap that can help me out? I've got an appointment to dyno my car Saturday and this is gonna screw me if they won't fit.

Yeah man, I only messed with them for a minute and they were hitting some of the wiring and fuel lines. I don't have my tools here so there wasn't a lot I could do this evening. Anyway from pushing and pulling trying to dry fit them it looked to me like the bolt holes don't line up. I searched for a while on here and found about 20 threads about this but not a single definate answer in any of them. Lemme know if you have any luck digging anything up.

Have you also tried the electrical connectors on your engine's harness to the LS2 coils? Are they compatible?

Negative. If you have centerbolt LS1 valve covers where the coils bolted to brackets and the brackets to the valve cover, LS2 coils on the appropriate LS2 coil brackets will bolt to the LS1 valve covers.

Wicked, did you also get the LS2 style coil harnesses? They are different also.

so are the ls1 and the truck ones different? im running the truck covers with the ls2 coils/bracks and harness, the fuel line inlet is smack dab in the middle of the coil for #5, im running the ls6 intake and ls1 rail.

I have the truck coils mounted on the truck brackets bolted to my LS1 valve covers.

YES, the larger truck coils interferes with the fuel line.

Have a look here:

ok i have a 5.3 with the truck valve covers, i am running the ls6 intake ls1 rail and am tryin to use 06 gto ls2 coils/bracks/harness, issue im havin is on DS the fuel inlet is right in the middle of the coil for #5 right where the coil connector is, ill post a pic in abit when i get back out there. its obvious that the fuel rail on the ls2 sits further back to clear the coils but i cant seem to find what ppl do that ran into this issue, i mean 5 min with a grinder i can mount them i just dont want to ruin good parts lol

fuel inlet is right in the middle of the coil for #5 right where the coil connector is
This is a known issue with truck coils and most other coils not specifically from LS1s. Stick a deepwell socket over the end and bend it up slightly or put different rails on

As far as the harness, they will be different where they plug to the coils but where the coil harness plugs into the engine harness, they are all the same.
