problems pulling out crank pulley bolt

Unhappy problems pulling out crank pulley bolt
well i've been trying to remove crank pulley, just brought down steering rack but noticed can't stop engine from turning then bolt can't be loosened, is there any way which i can hold engine from turning. or what am i supposed to do to pull it out? can't see flexplate neither. This is a 98 c5 vette.

put the ebrake on. It takes alot of power to get that bolt loose,,youll need a breaker bar for sure.

Ha when you see the title from the main ls1tech page it just says "problems pulling out" lmao. I figured op knocked somebody up..

if you were meaning to handbrake, it is auto trans :S about breaker bar i suppost it is a tool or something, im still stuck

Well to get it off, its not important but when reinstalling, like said you need to hold the flywheel since its an automatic car. If it was a manual, you just need to be in gear.

Just remember, some lube, a threaded rod with some washers and nuts to draw the UD pulley back on, and then use a new crank bolt. I use ARP.

Use a ratchet strap hooked to the chassis and one of the balancer ribs. Works great for breaking it loose and torquing it
