2001 SS. 425 HP goal...help.
2001 SS A4 343 rwhp, 353 tq
-SLP underdrive pulley
-160 degree thermostat
-373 gears
-K and N cold air intake
-Ported throttle body
-American Racing Long Tube Headers, high flow cats w/ Magnaflow cat backs.
My goal is to achieve 425 rwhp with more down low and midrange than up top. I eventually will take my car to the track and will probably a couple times a year eventually. The focus is set up for weekend driving and streetability. I dont want the car sounding like a tractor pull vehicle with a wild cam, but I am certainly not opposed to some minor lope. If anything, I wouldn't mind a cam that is on the quiet side for sleeper effect if that's even possible. I really am interested in the 215cc cnc'd trick flow heads, and probably a custom cam that matches the heads for the goal I have. I know a stall will be needed, so wondering what range you all thought?
If anyone has an a4 ss or z28 and has a similar modded car that I would like to build please let me know what you have and if you like your build. I want to stay naturally aspirated, and am not interested in NOS, superchargers, or turbos. I know a good tune will be in order , but I dont think 425 is too out of the question with what I would like to achieve. Hope to hear your thoughts.

However, please do not forget to get a new higher stall torque converter. Heads and cam w/out new converter is all for nothing. So save cash back for that too.

Run the car at the track, go grab your 13 second timeslip then install a 3500-4000 stall converter and run low 12s, you'll be happy. Forget the dyno numbers, only way without a mid sized cam is nitrous or forced induction.

Why that number? Why not a track time goal?
Here is how I see it, lets say car 1 and car 2 race with the following mods:
Car 2: 425 RWHP through a cam/heads/bolt ons setup
Car 1: Drag slicks/radials, some suspension work, and a nice 3800 stall.
From a stoplight, I would take car 1 every day of the week, it would annihilate the bolt on/cammed car without tires or a stall.
Now yes, Car 2 would probably win from a 60 roll, but you said yourself, you want low/mid range power. That would mean a stall, gears, suspension, and nice sticky tires.
Just my opinion.
You can contact any vendors on here and let them know you want 425RWHP and they can throw a nice setup together for you, but unless you are doing 60, 80, 100MPH roll races I would get the fun mods first. besides, 100MPH+ roll racing is better suited for a turbo setup (which is the opposite of what you want) as the turbo spools and makes HUGE mid-top end power.
