Default Pacestetter headers

Im very new to the ls1 world and have never ran pacestetters before but are they a good set of headers for these cars? and my car has 175k miles i personally know the last owner the car was very well maintained but it makes me nervous to add headers and little boltons till i rebuild here in the next few months do yall think im ok to do mild boltons for now?

Headers and exhaust won't hurt your car; it actually will put less strain on your engine. What are you looking to get out of the header? maximum performance, easy install, cheapest? I would only go with Pacesetter if you want the absolute cheapest option. BBK gets my vote for bang for buck; $475 gets you ceramic coated longtubes with superb fitment and a very nice quality ORY

Good to know! $475 is still cheap for ceramic coated headers do you have any install tips or things to look out for?

My pacesetters have been great, but after a year they have a few spots of surface rust. A lot of people run into issues where they need to grind areas or disconnect the steering to get them in on the driver's side. I had no issues at ll with the Pacesetter install. Both sides slid right into place.

That doesn't include a y pipe though right?

There are writeups floating all over the place on installing headers, but its fairly easy to do. Just get the car up as high as you can (throw some 4x4's or 6x6's under the jackstands even). Also, if you can lift the rear of the car up a bit as well, it makes it much easier to slide the headers into place. I went with BBK's and install/fitment was perfect, no removal of the steering shaft, no notching the k member, no cutting off the tab.

Whatever you do, don't use the paper gaskets your pacesetter heads will bring with them. Do yourself a favor and get some GM MLS Gaskets and ARP header bolts. I blew out the paper gaskets and the GM gasket is not letting even a tiny bit through.

Pacesetters are the absolute best bang for buck. They were great on my car.
I wouldnt bother with any t stat other than the stock one. Its pointless to me.

I have BBK ceramic on my fox for 6yrs. They still look the same as when they was installed. I had to buy lokking header bolts with Percys dead soft aluminum gaskets. This will be the only way I install headers on any vehicle again.

Im also part of the pacesetter crowd. Easy install, great fit, and definetely a good bang for your buck. 175k miles is nothing on these cars as long as they have been took care of.

If you want best power and longevity there's only 1 header on the market. KOOKS are worth the extra money.

If you want to make sure the engine runs cool enough make sure the radiator fins aren't plugged up, and flush the coolant system, and get the ceramic coated headers, not the painted ones. The coated headers will cut down the under hood temperatures, which means all the wiring will last longer.
