Default simple but urgent fuel line question.

my EGR o ring broke today, i have the ls6 intake ready and all the block off plates. my question is do i really need the fuel line disconnect tool?? am doing this after tomorrow since this is my DD and am a full time student and need this asap. i tried the search and read that it could be done without the tool but i want to be sure. can i just leave it intact then reinstall it on the new intake?? thanks.

It can be done but the tool makes it easier especially if
the connector is in an inconvenient position. You could
make your own from a couple of pieces of hard fuel line,
with a hacksaw and pliers. You may be able to just flop
the rails out of the way and deal with the nuisance too.

problem is ill never find this disconnect tool here in middle east! ill have to ship this from the US which will take like a week and i need the car asap. i think ill just try moving them out of the way but am quiet sure that the injectors will be a pita to pop off. also heard that a needle nose pliers should work too...wish this all go easy!

Just be very careful. I tried to remove my fuel rails without taking off the line first once and ended up kinking the line in 3 places and had to get a new fuel line....

As I understand it, GM vehicles are relatively popular in The Middle East, especially trucks and vans. Wouldn't this make parts and repair shops for GM vehicles popular?

The tool is pretty universal (I have one with big and
little ends, about $2-3 at the AutoZone). Any general
auto parts store would be crazy not to have them in
the tools section.

But like I said, look at a picture and you can see how
easy it would be to make something close enough,
yourself.

^ Yeah.. His parts stores should have the "scissor" type disconnect tools. They will make life a lot easier. I know it sucks to have to put something off ONE more day, but I'd get the tool.. No headaches is nice!

I am in the middle of swapping my intake and just disconnected the fuel line today. I recommend borrowing the tool from someone or renting it at any local parts store or buying I guess. It will make life easier, trust me.

Just set it to the side. I have done it many different times without problems. Very simple just pull your intake out about half way and your fuel line will turn at the joins easily.
