Default flowmaster "race" muffler - bullet

anybody have one of these or heard one in person? just curious about drone and how loud it really is.

exhaust will consist of:

1 7/8" tsp headers - tsp y - 3.5" pipe - 3.5" fm muffler as far back as possible - over the axle - another y - dual 3" out the back.

i don't mind if its loud, i just don't want a lot of rasp. i had a 4" dynomax bullet on an lt1 i had and it was raspy as hell, it was dumped under the car.

I think I found a pic inside of the muff...on Google.

That outta sum it up...VERY LOUD and probably raspy. I bet it would sound mean. I love my ORY with a dumped dynomax bullet...but I also have a hooker maxflow muffler I can throw on to be as quiet at stock, so take your pick.

I would say about similar in volume to the dynomax, maybe a bit more rasp seeing those ridges and how interrupts airflow.

I use to have a dyonouth and it was raspy..i switched to a mufflex 4 inch y and has flowmaster merge and 4 inch dynomax bullit dumped and has no rasp..it think the rasp has to do with the y pipe(use to have a hooker y)..

hmm. we will see. i am hoping the diameter of the exhaust will help cut down the rasp. i really don't think that muffler is simply a piece of empty pipe haha.

edit: **** i think you're right. i searched and found other pictures showing the same thing. it has a couple ridges inside of it and that's it. wtf i can't do that haha.

I believe there was a member here with a camaro that ran them but said they were loud as hell so he went with a different race muffler.

Anything with the title of "Race" in it is going to be loud and possibly raspy. Both my 4'' race mufflers are loud as hell but deep.

loud...i'm not worried about. rasp i am worried about. i hate it. i'm worried to death i'll do this and have to put another muffler in there somewhere.

i should just quit being a ***** and try it. since no one has done it, i'll be the guinea pig. only one way to know. it can't be *that bad, this is a stock internal car. however, i do leave for work early (2-3 am) so the houses i go by will love me haha.

Lol thats not cool! I wouldn't dare try that with my car it rattles my own house let alone the neighbors. I get grief for firing it up at 7-8am to head to the track on the weekends.

I've had a single chamber and it sounded pretty good, no rasp but had terrible resonance.

when i switched to from the 3 inch hooker y and dynomax to the set up i have now..it is louder but it does not hurt my ears like it did before, and its alot deeper sounding..At idle the cam is Alot more noticeable then it was before..I would not be surprised if i picked up 5- 10 ponies with it

did you run this out the back? a friend of mine had a 3" x true dual setup using those mufflers dumped at the axle and holy hell was it badass. this was on a tfs head 244* cam sbe ls1. it was ridiculous, but i think most of that is because it was dumped at the axle. words cannot describe how it sounded at 7200 rpm. that setup with his 457 geared 9" sung songs going down the track.

i am set on using an fm 10 in place of the outlaw race muffler. i am concerned with restriction using one 3.5" muffler, but i don't think it'll amount to much.

the car easily trapped 110+ with just a weld in 80 series and a lid. i am hoping this exhaust and 410s will increase the trap speed. i will be disappointed if i do all this work and only trap 112. headers are required with a cam no matter what so they have to be done eventually.

am going same route but a 3.5 merge then I pipe all the way to the back with a single in/out magnaflow #14151 in place of factory location. the muffler you listed will drone VERY bad at any rpm..i vote magnaflow, borla bullet or oval.

I've got single chambers on my over the axle 3" dual setup. On a Trans Am the mufflers hide nicely just behind the bumpers, a Camaro might look weird. I had the tips welded to the muffler outlet, which gave it the 10" of pipe after the muffler that Flowmaster recommended. I've posted pics in the past, do a search...
