Default Average price of a longtube header install?

I've called 3 different local shops and have had price quotes of 390,480, and 520. What do people usually pay for the install?

Get a good friend and do it yourself I did mine yesterday and everything went on fine then you can use the money you would have paid for a tune.

what kind of headers are you putting on? if you have some free time on the weekends, get a buddy to two and try to do it yourselves, i was going to pay a shop to do mine but there are SEVERAL how-to documents on the web filled with vivid descriptions and pictures, besides if you stumble onto a problem you could always post up here or just simply call a shop for advice, most are nice enough to try and talk you though it, it definately wasn't as bad as i thought it would be (nothing as technical as putting in a cam), plus with the extra money you save...it can go towards more mods

here are a few examples of what i'm talking about:
Pacesetter LT install

and a few others

I would definately do it yourself. Header installs aren't bad at all and it saves you a lot of money

unfortunatley, I dont really have the tools or space to do this. having a shop install them would save me time and headache of doing these. I'm looking at getting QTP headers with cat and ypipe to accompany my loudmouth.

$300 is a good price in my area. But average shops here charge $450. Sometimes you get a deal if you buy the headers there. I got 1 quote of $150 if I bought the headers from them but the combined price was the same as other shops.

I agree with JRP. I did not want to do this myself but am glad I did. I started on Friday and finished on Saturday. No, I wasn't having problems I was taking my time and washing everything I could touch since the car was up. Then used a blower to dry it off before beer break time. It is fairly easy with the time consuming part being getting the header bolts out. Borrow the tools you need like I did and buy the ones that you can't. Then you'll have the stories to tell others about how you did it yourself. I tried to take pics of the complete teardown and install. They are posted below if you want to look.

If youre not going to do it yourself why ask about price here pick the cheapest in your area and pay them if you dont want the headache because if your not worried about money it doesnt matter.
