Default Need to tone my Exhaust down.

I have an 01 SS with heads, cam, PPC LT headers and 3" Y-pipe mated to a 3" Corsa cat-back. The car sounds perfect at idle but going down the road ESPECIALLY at WOT the noise level is very annoying. I thought it might grow on me and I'd get use to it. Any ideas on what might be the best solution. Change mufflers? Add a resonator? If so, what would be a good choice? I desire quality as well as looks.

Before you change exhausts.. Go to eBay and get some BrownBread.. Same stuff as Dynamat.. Insulate the car.. I guarantee ya it'll be at least 50% quieter.. Inside the car that is!

I'd suggest the SLP Dual/Dual. It is supposed to be one of the quitest perfromance exhausts out there. You could then get the centermounted exhaust if you liked.

I would either go for the insulation of the ENTIRE floor and b-pillars or just install some high-flow cats into the y-pipe.

B-quiet or Dynamat insulation is really expensive. I used "Frost King Self-Adhesive Duct Insulation" (12"x15'x1/8") that I bought from Lowe's for $10 a roll. Took 3 rolls to do the entire car and has made an incredible difference. Plus it weighs about 2 lbs per roll as opposed to 20 lbs or more for a roll of Dynamat.

You can find it on Lowe's website by doing a search for "insulation".

I'm sorry, I failed to mention I've already installed dynamat, jute and have R/T metallic cats which by the way didn't make very much difference at all. I haven't done the floor board underneath the front seats yet but I don't think that's my problem. The SLP dual/dual sounds like a reasonable alternative and I've heard it on a car very similar to mine. It's a lot quieter. Wonder if I can still keep my Corsa tips?

Doesn't the Corsa have 3" tips? while the SLP has 2.5"? You should be able to modify them to fit.

From what I hear, the dual-dual muffler has been modified to be a little more aggressive, so it may be just what you are looking for.

Try a bullet in the IPIPE. I don't have a Corsa catback, but it worked for me.
