Default fluid in throttle body?

I am new to my LS1 conversion in a 80' vette. Had it at a shop and got screwed so now redoing a lot of things. I took the airfilter off and in the throttle body I saw liquid. Didn't smell like gas but did not feel quite like oil either... maybe a mixture of them? I Am not sure. I attached a picture. IS this normal or should I investigate futher?

you did not say if you kept the stock PCV system or not.....if you did.......its common knowledge that it is PURE CRAP......try a LS6 valley cover conversion

How did it go with your car. I too am doing a 5.3L in a 1980 Vette. Haven't gotten the old engine out yet, building up the 5.3L first.

Catch can, got it. honestly, I don't know if it has the pcv on it or not. Will have to research some more since I am 100% new to ls1. Where do I run the catch can from ?
@rikoahay I like having the upgrade however I was really screwed over by the shop that did all the work. I am working in fixing everything and thankfully I did the engine cam swap myself. There is a place in Arkansas that does these swaps and answer any question you may have. I'll post back when I get the website

I had a custom wire harness made from a friend at fuel injection specialties, then mounted it in the storage area across from the battery

Good article and those are the guys who have answers if you need any. Nice people, I should have had them do the swap instead of this other shop... :-)
