Intake piping size and power

Intake piping size and power Curious question specifically relating to a 408 with 102/102.
Obviously it seems stupid to run 102tb with a 90mm maf due to restriction. I've decided to delete my maf because of it. My question is....does the length of your pipe affect power? does 3" VS. A 4" pipe make a difference. what's the point of a 102tb if your piping isn't 102mm thick. Your whole pipe would be a restriction. I've heard a few arguments about velocity with smaller pipes being better. I'm interested in some theories.
