Borla & Hooker Longtubes?

Borla & Hooker Longtubes? Who here has Borla catback and Hooker Longtubes and what do you think of this set up? I am not sure on whether or not I want to go w/ or w/o cats so suggestions would greatly be appreciated. I am also thinking of adding the QTEC Electric Cutout to go with my Borla exhaust so I can close and open the headers at will. Does anyone think that this will help reduce the rasp if I choose to go w/o cats? Thanks!

That sounds like it'll be a great set up. The only "problem" is that it WILL be raspy. Cats are stupid so just stop thinking about those. Going with the QTEC is a good idea because just like you said, it will open everything up at will. I say go with it. Actually, go with the McCord power plate, some people say its more reliable than the QTEC.

I heard a Borla w/o plate, LT's (don't know which kind) w/cats on a 98 Vette last night and it sounded awesome. He rev'd it a few times and it didn't have any rasp at all. He told me it didn't have any drone either. Sounds like a sweet set-up to me
that vette had cats you said, that will keep it from rasping.
i used to run wide open borla with slp longtubes and no cats and it was loud and kinda strange sounding, but i liked it and was unique, always knew when my car was coming.
i run hookers now, no cats, into 4" mufflex with a spintech muffler.
you can put a 3" bullet muffler in the intermidiate pipe of the borla, that should get rid of the rasp for the large part and deepen up the tone a bit..there is one in my mufflex and it sounds nice, no rasp.

I have Pacesetter headers with an offroad Y, and no cats. My Borla has the smallest opened plate and i have no rasp. Infact it's the best sounding car i've ever heard. It's almost stock sounding at idle and roars when I tap the gas.
