Default TBSS Intake?

Anyone know how the TBSS 90mm intake performs? Better than LS6 intake? Is it similar to the performance of the LQ4/LQ9 intake?

Ls6 is better than ls2... Even with smaller snout... And idk about the truck intake being better... I would say the TBSS has better intake.. But not better than ls6

Like I said TBSS intake would be better than truck. And 36# injectors wer added so that would help out sum. I would throw on a NW90 instead of truck TB

The TBSS intake is geared for low rpm power and not topend. If you are running a cam that shifts at 6K, get it ported and keep it. But OP for you I would opt for the FAST 102 Truck Intake

Not in the budget right now. Cam duration is 231/239 and I shift around 6500.

a ls truck intake is close to a ls6 intake inflow up to 5500rpm.

The TBSS will out torque the ls6 especially with the right tb.

I have a FAST 90 but I have not fabbed a TV cable hook up for it yet. I would like to see an increase in bottom end torque.

Basically, its like the car manifolds. LS1 sucks, LS6 is better, and the FAST LSXR makes the most power.

For trucks, the "big ugly" intake 99-2007 is the worst. The TBSS from 06+ is better, and the FAST LSXRT is by far better.

The truck tested was 100%stock, and there was no tuning done during testing, the OEM 90mm DBW throttle body was used on the 102mm intake.

The intakes were fairly close below 4500RPM, but after 4500 RPM is where the FAST LSXRT started to take off!!

Here are the power gains.

4500 +3.5rwhp
5000 +17.3rwhp
5500 +20.5rwhp
6000 +19.8rwhp

Truck manifolds are better than the cars, they just don't fit so not too many results unless its a hybrid conversion. This article here will show you the benefits of the "bread box" https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...lts-added.html. It truly is the best mass produced intake for the LSx, unfortunately it does not fit on much!!

Super old thread, but just popped in to say that every stock LS intake aside from the ls6 intake can be found bare for about that price or slightly more.

If look at the chart graph the truck is right with the LS6 under curve all the way to 6600 rpm there is less than 5hp difference, the torque could lay one on top the other. Most LS cams finish making power around 6200 - 6300 rpm so the peak at 7000rpm does not mean much. Most tests show the LS6 only have a slight 2 hp gain over 5800 RPM
