Default Mids Vs. LT's

Pros and cons. I did a search but couldnt really find what I'm looking for. I'm going with a MTI stealth cam I/II. I cant really see that big of a difference in MIDS and LT's Can someone please explain why LT's are that much better for cammed motors?

they let the air flow out better and cause less restriction. do it right the first time and get full lengths, u get a little more power and a nice sound too

No real difference in power in the higher rpms or at peak; a little more power in the lower rpms with LTs. You'll get more mid-range and low end TQ out of the LTs though.

Nothing wrong with going mids. No clearance issues, no banging on floor boards, and much less chance of front O2 sensor heater codes from mids (I haven't had a code in the 2 years I've had them) than LTs also. I'm VERY happy I went with mids after seeing some of the issues my friends have been through with LTs (both with install and ground clearance & floor board banging issues).

I thought the LT provide more Mid to High end power and Shortys give you more Low to Mid...This has been my experience.

With the LTs you WILL produce more TQ on the big end.

Which is what propells your car down the 1320.

I had BBK shorties on my 2001 Z06 and my buddy had the FLPs LTs on his 2002 Z06 I had 8ft Lbs TQ less and 1.5 HP more than him,I had a Borla Catback up against his Stock Catback.

This is just my opinion.

High end power is basically the same for mids and LTs. Actually, some people have made MORE high end power with mids than LTs.

Um, LTs make more power down low with the mids catching up near the top. A set of MACs with the collector mod and some clean up on the welds will flow pretty damn well. I've had both and yes, I now am running LTs, but have no complaints about MAC mids.

Like they said, with LT's you will get a little more torque and a SLIGHT hp increase over the Macs. They both rock though, just stay as far away from shorties as you can for the LS1. They will gain nearly nothing on 00-02 cars, and slightly on an 98-99. Look for the best deal!
