Default Madhammer/ GMMG with LT install help

Hey guys i need some input on how you went from your y-pipe to your gmmg I-pipe. I have ARH LT's and a high flow y pipe to a stock catback on my car right now. the ARH y-pipe reduces down to 2.75" id to slip over the stock I-pipe. I just received my gmmg from gary at madhammer (excellent experience can't say enough good things about them) and the I-pipe is reduced at the begining to 2.75" id to slip over the stock y-pipe. I'm gonna install it this weekend and wanted some opinions on how you did it so that i could plan on what clamps, etc i need before i tackle the install.

thanks a lot,
-Brian

Installed it yesterday and the ARh y-pipe shrinks down to 2.75" ID and the gmmg/ madhammer i pipe shrinks down to perfectly slip over it. Install went perfect, except for having to drop the rear end 3 " to get exhaust in.

Congrats. I loved my gmmg. I ended up putting another power stick in the middle to reduce the rasp but it was nice

Thanks I can tell i'm quickly gonna fall in love with mine. I only got to start it up and idle it in the driveway cause the roads are still crap from salt/ ash but hopefulle soon we'll get a good rain and a warm day that i can take it out and relly fall in love with it.

Like babbage said, I drove around without a powerstick and it started to get irritating so I brought it to a muffler shop and had them weld it in right after the ORY. Cost me $40 and they took 20 minutes to do it right.

I ran a gmmg for a long time with an ory and loved it. It's actually my favorite setup and will be doing it again. Just try it the way you have it more before you go off spending more money on something you may not need.

You should be fine with your catted y. I ran mine with a ory so it was a little different.

Not to jack the thread, but anyone have a link to the powersticks they're using after the Y with the GMMG?

I am looking to run GMMG with my current LT's and no cats.

Shouldn't have to do that....just jack up the frame of the car and it'll slide right over the axle.

I ordered mine from Torque Tech in Georgia.
Real nice people to deal with.

Originally I tried to get it from Classic Chambered, but no one answered the phone for like 5 straight days.
Not sure what happened there.
This was like three+ years ago.

Which powerstick did you guys go with, and what needs to be done to fit it? (such as cutting the Y-pipe?) I LOVE my exhaust, minus the rasp between 2000 & 3000 RPM under moderate throttle. I'm open minded to easy fixes that won't cost a ton or require much exhaust modifications.

My neighbors probably wouldn't mind it a tad quieter either.

Does it lower the idle decibels any?

Is the GMMG supposed to slip over the Kooks 3" ORY? My ORY was cut off where it was reduced down and I am trying to put this together and figure out a work around. Even considering buying a new Kooks Catted Y.

I have a question here (bringing this back from the dead).

Most of the time I see folks with Kooks ORY/Catted Y and the GMMG and the consensus is to run the Catted Y.

Is it different with the ARH Y-Pipe due to the merge? Does that help with the rasp?

Nope. Merge doesn't affect rasp. Read in link below. the OP has a video of his car WITH a flowmaster merge which is pretty much identical to the ARh merge (very good) and it's still raspy as *****. Powerstick in I-pipe cured it.

Sounds nice and mean after the powerstick. All this and it has a cutout. Sounds like the perfect combo to me. I'll be doing the same exact thing (except with a longer powerstick) to mine once my car is tuned.
