Not entirely true. Not all 243 heads have sodium
Filled valves ONLY those from a Z06. Truck heads have regular valves as do GTO.

it depends on where the bolts for the valve covers are. center or perimeter.

im out of the country right now and cant remember exactly which one is for what year but as long as your current heads have the same bolt pattern as the 243 heads they will work.

right forgot that they put 243 heads on other cars those years other than the corvette.
02-04 Z06 heads had the sodium filled valves.
01 z06 heads did not.
LS2 799 heads did not come with the sodium filled valves either but the heads themselves are exactly the same as 243 heads.

if you dont care about the sodium filled valves,
get any head stamped 243 or 799.
get them checked by a machine shop
double check pushrod length.
for peace of mind, get ls7 lifters and LS2 lifter trays.
depending on if you have the correct bolt pattern for your valve covers you may need new covers and coil brackets

If your car is a 99-02, you'll have center bolt valve covers already, which the 243's and 799's will bolt right up to no problems.

Hope that helps.

been thinking about this "stock" exchange as well. been wanting to bump up the power a bit here and there.
mines a 98 so i know i gotta get the center bolt valve covers and coil brackets.
kind kind of power increase could be mere 98 ls1 owners see with LS6 intake manifold and LS6 heads on?
