Default SLP "Loud Mouth" catback question?

Does anyone have any comments about the SLP "Loud Mouth" catback? SLP claims an additional 25 rwhp, but I'm sceptical. Also, how do thay sound. I'm wanting a better sound for my 2000 Camaro SS, but I don't want it to be obnoxious. LM Performance has the system on sell for $320.00, so it sounds like a good deal. Any comments or suggestions???

Loudmouth is what it says it is...its loud. as for 25 rwhp...No. but it is easily one of the best flowing catbacks. With stock manifolds and stock ypipe i wouldn't classify it as obnoxious but you and everyone will know you gotta Loudmouth.

ls1sounds.com has a buncha sound clips. you could also probably search the media exchange forum for some sound clips and video files perhaps.

another chioce would be TSP's rumbler catback. Sound files i've heard sound sweet. and its cheaper than 320 (i think its 300 with tips, 225 without) check texas speed and performance at the right ----->
good luck

It will not get your 25 rwhp. It is find for a stock car but if you add headers or any sort of mod like that then there is a 50/50 chance you will want to trade it for something else.

True Duals are even louder. The Magnaflow seems to work well for people that plan to really do up their car but dont want to sound like a 10 second steam roller.

Anyways, Yes deffinatly go for the Loudmouth. I love the sound on my 99 SS. Its a mean aggressive sound. Deffinatly not worth 25 hp though. Everyone overestimates that just to sell the product more.

If you're planning on headers and off-road pipe in the future, I'd go with the TSP rumbler catback that I have... it's basically a loudmouth system with a dynomax bullet muffler welded into the i-pipe instead of a resonator. Eliminates the raspy sounds of the loudmouth when coupled with headers and off-road pipe.

Great sound on a stock car, had one on mine and loved it. But decided to do LT Headers and ORY so needed a new system. You can find used LM's for $200ish and new ones you can find for $300.

Like others said, it wont get you 25hp. As for the sound... When I had the stock manifolds the dreaded 2000rpm drone/resonance gave me a headache on long trips. After I installed the headers it toned it down a bit and made it more managable. This of course was with cats.

I eventually got tired (Didnt take long) of the LM and went True duals. My set up is louder but with a better quality sound. I have very little drone and it sounds so good that even my mom (Who would refuse to ride in my car when I had the LM) loves how my car sounds.

I love my Loudmouth. There have been many a car that wont race after they hear me growl. Can't wait for my LT's to go on!

I liked it at first, but the drone gets old. I'm waiting to see how my Kooks LTs and catted Y sound with it before I decide whether or not to switch.

I say think of something else if you try to build your car because of the drone and rasp. After headers and the off-road y pipe was car would rasp and drone @ 1,200 rpm like I was really getting on the gas at 5,000 rpm. It didn't matter if I was barely pressing the gas or stomping on it really loud, the car was just stupid loud.

I installed one 18 inch Dynomax bullet which made it alot better, I just installed a cam I am putting in two more Dynomax's.

I had Loudmouth on my old car, I bought a Magnaflow catback to calm it down after the headers and ORY, and I'm really disappointed in the Magnaflow on a stock car. Nothing sounds sweeter on a stock car than a Loudmouth.

I love my loudmouth and I have a X1 Cam,Hooker LT's and ORY and its really really loud but it sounds really good. So if you plan on doing an mods such as headers and off road Y and you wanna be quite and not wake up neighborhoods then you may wanna stay away from the Loudmouth-Dont get me wrong I love it but with those mods it gets really really loud and you can hear it a mile away!!!

I had th Loudmouth on my car and I loved it to death. I thought that it made the car sound the way it should have came from the fcotry. I mean, it is loud like the name sounds, but a good loud. When you are driving around town it is not too loud. But when you open it up, everyone knows. I didn't have headers and I had cats. I did have a AAP Y-Pipe with a Flowmaster collector. You will love it.
