Default how loud is too loud?

is the slp loudmouth loud enough to get me ticketed for noise violation. i'm thinking about getting it but am a little timid about a $400 exhaust and some $100 fines. i don't want to be displeased with it. any input?

HEEELLL NO! I have loudmouth on my 99 SS, i love it and so do the cops.LOL....truthfully i think it depends on how you drive it and where you live....in ct its not a problem, i get looked at but as long as i'm not breakin any laws they dont even warn me. Now on the other hand if you live in a quiet little neighborhood and come flyin down the street and downshift into 2nd your in for some trouble...i havnt done headers or y-pipe yet so i would imagine you'd get pretty loud but the cat back alone i think is fine. Good luck!

With the stock manifolds and cats its going to have a really good sound. It'll be a little loud, but nothing to bad. Once you go with some LT's and ditch the cats the loudmouth is frickin loud as hell and extremely RASPY. I have borla with no plates and its pretty damn loud. At WOT you can easily hear it a mile away (with longtubes and ORY). As the other gentleman said, just don't be obnoxious with it.

I started out with the Loudmouth, LT headers, and ORY pipe. It was very loud and very raspy. I installed a Bullet muffler in place of the Loudmouth resonator which took care of most of the rasp. I love the sound of it now and I get a lot of compliments. The other day I pulled in to 7-11 and parked next to a cop. He was standing outside his car when he heard me rumbling up. He said he loved the sound of my car and wanted to know what kind of exhaust setup I was running. I just said it was an aftermarket catback called the Loudmouth.

Since you still have stock manifolds and cats, it won't be that loud. Also, the Loudmouth is reasonably priced compared to the competition.

I have Loudmouth with Hooker LT's ORY and 3600 stall and it freaking screams-But I get a ton of compliments for everybody saying man that thing sounds so good-I had Borla but I dont drive the car everyday so I just put the Loudmouth back on and I absolutely love it. It is raspy but hey it doesnt bother me and it gets you alot of looks!!!

Since it is totally up to the cops discretion on what is too loud in the state of Va(warrenton, here)some actually do not mind it while others will ride you about it,have been pulled many times for the loudmouth and tint, does no good to tell them it was factory installed,it still "violates city and town sound ordinence" ,oh well

i have the same exact setup....not a single exhaust ticket....i drive slowly and accelerate gradually around town....believe it or not, below 2300 rpm or so, the LM/ORY/LT setup is downright quiet....at idle i cant even hear it from in the car....when i step into it...well thats a whole different story.

I am on a NASCAR boom tube with no cats, LT's and a passenger side exit. THAT is fricken loud. The "loudmouth" with cats will be pretty tolerable at cruise speeds and sound killer at WOT.

NataSS, I saw the pics of that setup, it's basically headers dumping off the right side of the passengers head, that thing looks stupid loud.

yeah, its earshattering at 7500. My street time has gone to almost nil now. starting the car prior to 9am and after 7pm has become a bad juju. It shakes the neighborhood.

I started my car at a gas station in front of a statie with the headers, off road y and the loud mouth, good thing he was in the middle of gassing up, he snapped his head around so much I thought he broke his neck and was staring at me as I drove down the street, NOT good.

very rarely cops are muscle car heads. I remember back in the day i got my 5.0 (susp license/no ins.) cop walked from the middle to the street to the gas station where i was filling up. I was freakin', dude came up and said nice f'ng car man. I was sweatin ***** big time. Needless to say it was a relief, cop just wanted to check out my nice lx and hear it rev. lol.

hell the first day i got my z28 (all stock) i had cops following me up and down the roads, we're talking the quiet *** exhaust on a 2.73 A4 (not speeding of course). a'hole cops.

No dyno numbers yet. The NW forum is having a dyno day in April and I will be testing it then.

It will be hard to get an accurate # on just the boom tube though. Since my last dyno I have since added a Moser "9 rear end with 3.40's, Meziere EWP and HS roller rockers.

The SOTP meter is telling me there ismore HP there. The motor goes straight to 6500 with NO hesitation if I poke it. Traction in 1st, 2nd and 3rd is now non existant on street tires if I lay into it. Roll on's in second still produce tire smoke.

I am guessing that I might be above my old dyno of 420rwhp even with the "9.
