Good buy? Mods, please move if this is in the wrong section....
I have an opportunity to pick up a 5.3 with 243's for 475 firm.
Is this a good price? The engine is suppossedly good. All I want is the heads. I tried to get him to pull just the heads and sell them but no dice.
What's a 5.3 short block worth?
Is this even worth my while, or will I be paying 475 for stock 243's and a worthless short block?

Aluminum or iron block? What mileage? I believe only 05+ 5.3 had the 243 heads and few 04 motors. If the motor is good and an aluminum block it could be worth up to a grand. Either way I'd buy it just for the heads and you cold keep them or turn around and sell them for $400-500. Short block is maybe only worth a few hundred if good

That's what I was wondering; What's the SB worth. I can buy 243's for 400ish in here. I'd just hate to spend 75 more and be stuck with a block I really have no use for.

Well, it's local. If it sucks, I leave. I got pics text to me though.
If it's crackheads, there's a plan for that too. I have a large bored, gas operated, high speed, low drag, magazine fed, air cooled, light weight, & hand held piece of fabrication that goes by the formal name of Kimber.... Friends call her TLE II.

Is it a Gen 4? Both 3+4 were available that year. I just put the same engine (Gen 4) in a 94 Z and the old LT1 car finally has some *****. We gave $400 for the freshly rebuilt (less then 1k miles) shortblock.
