Question Best Place to Wire a Cutout?

I was thinking of using the wires for my 12v acc. plug, but it's a constant on. I'd rather a switched source. What do most of you guys pull the power from on your electric cutout?

Most people use the the cigarette lighter for power or the 12v from the radio.

My car is a 98 and no TCS; so I used the pink wire that was in console. It was perfect for my cutout. Not sure if you have TCS though.

+1 on the pink TCS wire, worked great for my RR cutout, but I don't have TC. For the ground I used one of the screws inside the console next to the airbag sensor. I found a DPDT mini-toggle switch at an electronics store that I mounted in the side of the ash tray instead of using the huge switch that came with the cutout.

This may be more info than you asked for, but its stuff that would have helped me when I did mine.

Thanks all. Can I use the pink wire if I have TCS or is the setup different? Mine is a 98 as well.

I also used the cigarette lighter....mounted my switch in the hole after removing the lighter. Perfect fit and looks factory.

I ended up using the cig. lighter as well. I have the switch located in the ash tray. BTW: Anyone have a spare ash tray? I only have a hole there under the flip back lid and want to cut a hole in the ash tray, then have the switch in that hole.

On our cars any pink wire is switched 12v and any orange is constant 12v.

I wired mine to the wires under the front seat that powers the seat position mechanism. I put the switch in front of the power seat buttons. I will post pics later.

Hmm, odd. Do you have 1 cutout switch, or two? You said you wired it off both of the cig. lighters, not just one?
