Lately, coolant is leaking out the top of the radiator by the cap. I thought it was the cap and replaced with a new one; but it's still pushing fluid out of the cap. Also, I didn't see any cracks in the radiator which may be causing the problem. The engine temperature is fine and is not overheating when this occurs. The water pump and theromstat were recently replaced, but I had this problem before those fixes.

What could be the problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

check the small hose just below the cap, also check the low coolant level sensor and see if it is leaking around it

 

Thanks. I did check the hose previously and it's not leaking there. But I forgot about the sensor; I'll take a look at it tomorrow.

 

Okay, I checked the sensor and that's not it. After about 5-10 minutes idling, fluid started pushing out the cap again. The car is not overheating. Do you think the radiator may be restrictive?

 

Okay, problem solved. The car was originally from New Jersey; when I got it there was alot of corrosion throughout the car. Well, the problem was the reservoir. It was so corroded that coolant was not flowing into and out of it. I replaced the reservoir and the fluid is no longer pushing through the radiator cap.

 

What exactly was corroded...? Do mean the overflow hose/tube was clogged...?

 

Yes; and there was alot of material inside the reservoir.
