$2700 to spend, ideas?
Still has the stock clutch, stock LCA's, stock motor mounts.
Keep in mind this is my daily driver and only car and I live in CA.
Current mods:
Mild cam(222/226) with all supporting valvetrain/misc components.
Lid
GMMG catback
Koni shocks/Strano Springs
Welded SFC
UMI adjustable PHB
Short stick
I just passed smog so I will be doing headers. So this gives me 2 years to run headers until the next smog **** appointment. lol
Here is what I'm thinking of doing:
1)BBK Chrome headers w y pipe/ Magnaflow Cats/ all supporting parts= $550
2)Poly LCA's with relocation brackets= $350
3)LS7 clutch and supporting components $850
4)Dyno tune after headers= $300
5)Labor for headers and clutch= $550
6)Motor Mounts= $150
Total= $2750 ish give or take
What do you guys think?

I thought about dumping it all on a Ford 9 or Moser 12 with gears, but there is so much more I can do with the money in areas that the car might need it such as the clutch.
It is not a dedicated track car, although i may hit the strip about 3 times in the year. When the rear end breaks, I'll just deal with it then, or have a stock one in decent shape on stand by.

Trust me, I've inquired about the TSP Stainless, and it's almost double the price for everything shipped compared to the BBK's. It's a helluva deal for stainless no doubt, but can't beat the value of the BBK's.
The BBK's come with free shipping, the TSP's don't, I'd rather stretch the budget out a bit more to get more for my dollar, at least for now.

I really don't see why people rag on the LS7 clutch for a solid all around option. My stock OEM LS1 clutch is at 118k right now with mixed abuse and casual driving. I can only imagine how superior an LS7 will hold up after time with proper maintenance.
GM made the damn thing for a Z06, the flagship "supercar" in their lineup. I really don't think it's that bad of a clutch considering the cost and the fact that I am not at the drag strip every week.

I almost went with the LS7 too untill I started doing a lot of research on clutches and talking to sponsors that sell both. I personally don't know why anyone would waste their time on one when they can get a superior clutch in TDP or Monster for $50-$100 more. Even their stage 1 is much better than the LS7. The LS7 is just an upgraded LS6 and they run at about a 20% failure rate. A good aftermarket clutch will run at about a 2% failure rate. It's up to you but seems like a no brainer for the minimal cost.
I've researched this myself for the last few months for MY needs. A lot of those failure rates could be attributed to guys running 500 rwhp and hot lapping that LS7 clutch. It was not designed for 500 rwhp for a heavier car than the vette.Then they just blame the clutch, and before you know it their buddies are ******* the clutch when they have never personally had experience with the clutch. lol, internet bashing at it's finest.
And 300 bucks is not "minimal cost" to me. Thats money towards a dyno tune or even LCA's. The total LS7 package is more closer to 800 shipped which is a helluva deal from the sponsor. Of course Tick is a good product, but is it OEM 100k daily driver status reliability product? I have yet to see them go that long. Like I said, different needs and both good products.
