I've been lucky more then once. A Crank install tool threads into the crank also? I have an install tool for older SBC and BBC's

I didnt do any research about putting the pulley back on and attempted to pull it on using the old bolt which stripped some threads out of the crank...use a tap to make new threads and bought the universal install tool which the 16mm adapter STILL was too short...so i actually bought a longer 16mm bolt from fastenal and had the head of the bolt cut off and threaded so it would screw into my install tool and it worked like a charm

Well I ordered the ATI today. Only part I have left to purchase is a convertor and I will be set. Still looking for the flywheel holding tool J-42386-A . Checked on ebay but they are asking a freaking 100 bucks for it. Anyone know where I can get one cheaper or even rent one?

I think there are ways to hold a FW without the tool, but I do not have one for you.

Anyone?

If the trans is out u can put a punch or screw driver in 1 of the flex plate holes. You can make a stop and bolt it in one of the starter bolt holes.

I'm thinking I bought a new bolt and never stretched it. I use it to snug up the balc. I then use the ARP bolt to torque it on the crank. The problem with the old bolts are that the threads are pulled(torque to yield)

I cut up a piece of flexplate. Wedge it up in the bell
