Default LS3 intake on cathedral port heads?

Ok folks, I'm wondering if it is possible to do this? Has anyone tried? I'm wanting to experiment and not pay for a FAST intake. The bolt patterns on the intakes are the same aren't they?

If the bolt patterns are the same then I was thinking of trying something, rather rash. I was thinking about taking the cathedrals in the LS6 heads I have and squaring them off to line up with the LS3 intake ports. But I plan on angling the cuts in towards the inside of the intake runner so as to create a funnel effect and thus eliminate any flat surfaces for the air to impact as it exits the intake. If I'm thinking correctly, the funnel created by the angle cutting of the runner as I would do it will create a slight increase in velocity of flow as the larger amount of incoming air charge from the intake is squeezed into the runner. Has anybody done anything like this? Any ideas?

I'm sure most of you are gonna call me nuts lol. But I'm doing an LS1 so square port heads are out of the question. I don't want to pay for a FAST so I was trying to come up with an interesting alternative.

I searched, but I couldn't find anything on this. Any ideas are appreciated.

I doubt this will work as anticipated. Unless you really know what you are doing with airflow, you stand a high probability of not having good results.

What are you doing to do about the bottom and top of the intake ports that will undoubtedly hang above the manifold runner?

Sure you can *try* and expand the head runners outwards to match the width of the intake runners, but the height of the head runners is greater than the height of the intake runner. What would you do about that?

LS1/LS6 cathedral port heads do not have the space for squaring out the ports because the pushrod wells occupy that space.

LS3 heads use offset/staggered rockers so that the pushrod wells can be further apart allowing the ports to be square rather than tall/skinny.

Well not only that but arnt the ls3 heads 11* heads, so does that change the angle of the intake ports also?

Well I was unaware that the intake runners on the cathedral ports were taller than the square port runners. That alone kills it.
