Default Car SLOWER after headers installed?

I just had my hooker LT headers with off road y pipe put on. It was installed correctly and everything. But when i accelerate in 1st gear, it feels slower then when it did without the headers. It might just be my imagination but is this possible? I read somewhere about getting your car tuned after getting headers installed? anyone want to inform on how and what to tune if that is the problem? thanks.

Havn't done it yet but i heard from a few guys that the car will run richer after headers installed. Getting the car tuned will deffinatly help. If your in the new england area i know east side performance can do it for you..thats where i'm going to go. Otherwise any performance shop can probably do it. Good Luck.

Most likely needs a tune. Some cars need it, other's don't. Mine needed it after I installed my macs.

If I were you would seriously consider buyinfg LS1Edit (or hp tuners which just came out), and start learning how to do this stuff yourself. It is not hard, and you do not want to pay someone for a new tune everytime you do a mod..

Yea that would probably end up being cheaper in the long run...do you know how much LS1 Edit costs to buy?

Are you running it through a cutout? Trying capping it up if you are. Mine felt real sluggish through the cutout after the LT's, but fine thru the borla. Once i got it on the dyno i realized way. The cutout was leaning my car waaaaay out.

I believe its $550. My buddy has it and is selling his car. He wants $200 for it, but then you have to take care of a $50 owner transfer fee and another $200 to get your vin on it($450 total investment on your part). Total saving's from new = $100.00 Lemme Know if you have any questions for him.

550 new?....and how easy is easy? i dont know anything about these codes and what not. Is it just like read the owners manual and then i'm set or would i actually have to watch someone else do it the first time b/c at that point there is no point in buying it for my b/c i'm not planning on doing more than 2 mods that will throw codes. Thanks!

I'm in Dutchess Co. and haven't heard of anyone nearby that does tuning. East Side in Conn. or Rapid Motorsports in Penn. are your best bets that I know of.

Get a predator they cost about $400 but you can do anything with them.

Also at low end RPMs it will be a bit slower but higher RPMs your car should scream

I had kooks/cats put on my car, and it started pinging badly until I got it tuned (yesterday).

If you are going to purchase something get hptuners. For $510 shipped you get a package that is basically autotap and ls1edit put together, and you can do more with it than you can a predator.

I will defentially say stay away from the predator unit and buy the hptuners.
I have LS1 edit and love it myself but it isn't as easy as some people make it out to be.

Make sure the car is tuned. My Pacesetters and off road y pipe didn't give me anymore than 6 rwhp without a tune (car was already tuned with LS1 Edit before the header install).

With a tune I gained triple that amount in rwhp and rwtq. Made a world of difference.

The Hypertech can't do 25% of the things that LS1 Edit can do. It's pretty much useless on anything but a stock car.

all those handheld tuners are wastes of money IMO, unless your only mods are a thermostat, filter, and different sized tires
go with LS1edit/autotap or HPtuners
