Ticking
Have a "ticking" noise coming from my exhaust (i think). I only notice it while sitting at a red light...under normal driving its once every 3-5 seconds or so. After running it hotter, its quicker (every second or so). It almost sounds like oil dripping into the oil pan, but is louder. Anybody else experienced this? I've been told its the cats heating up and cooling off. I hope its normal.

It sounds like its something cooling off....cause after a full driving cycle, even after i shut the car off, i hear it. frequency slows until it stops. sounds like coming from underneath the car. don't think its a bent pushrod or exhaust leak. wouldnt they both cease at shutoff?

Sounds like exhaust cooling. My headers tick for a little while after I shut my motor down....

AIR check valves? i got a ticking with my header install. put some restrictor plates and fixed teh problem. I have heard of them burning up even with a stock motor...they are 6-8 bucks from advance auto parts might be worth a try.

New AIR check valves are NOT going to help you if the noise you're hearing is after you shut the motor down.
