Exclamation About to buy Headers?

Hey guys. Im about to order headers. I have tons of questions before i order them. My car is fairly stock. 2000 ls1- slp loudmouth 2, slp air lid, ORY, Diablo tune, 3.73 gears. Questions are my spending cap is between 300-350. Whats the best bang for your buck? What brand? Should i get them power coated? What size? I read that make sure my ORY fits with the headers? Are pacesetters good? i don't want any LEAKS, NOISES, RUBBING, nothing. I heard Shorrtys are a waste. I plan on getting mid lengths ? Will there be any problems installing them. HP gains?

thanks guys !

Dont get mid lengths you will be wasting your time get longtubes...as far as a spending budget goes for 300-350 bucks i would personally order bbk lts with their ory you can find it on ws6 store for 355 bucks and the fitment on them is second to none and the install is very simple if you follow the steps. Other than that really your only other option is just to pick up some pacesetters.....

That's a very, very slim budget for headers. I know how it feels to really really want a mod, but personally if I were you I'd save up a few more hundreds and then have a much larger selection of higher quality pieces that will be more worth while. From the word on this board, pacesetters are terrible, and I haven't heard much good about the bbk's either. Just save and get a higher quality piece that will give more seat-of-the-pants results.

Don't get coated/painted/uncoated,unpainted headers, get some stainless steel headers. Otherwise the bottom starts to get road rash.

My first set were Macs and they were a great header, when I was a cam only car I gained ZERO HP going to 1 7/8 hookers. Are you considering keeping your egr hook ups? Its not really about the design of the header but every car is different some fit cars and not others. I would look into the Macs, Hooker, or TSP. Your biggest pain is going to be the ypipe, none of them fit as is from the producer.

I drove the Macs uncoated for 100k miles and had no issues with them being uncoated.

I would go for the pacesetter and Texas speed y pipe for $369. I was told decent gains from them and not so decent from bbk due to its restrictive collector and smaller y pipe. But on the other hand I was told and have read that bbk has the best fit and ground clearance better than all others.

Almost every Pacesetter-related post that I've read on here has been positive.
I have uncoated Pacesetter longtubes and the primaries looked pretty decent for about 5 years and 100,000 miles. The collectors developed surface rust pretty quickly though, as they saw a lot of rain and salt. Pacesetters are a good option if you're on a tight budget and stainless just isn't an option.

I went with the eBay headers since they were stainless and I haven't had any problems with them at all. Car made 340 rwhp and 350 ft lbs torque with them. $175 shipped to my front door and they have the exact same bends as Pace Setters. If you're on a budget these are great, I love mine, they've been great so far, no rubbing or anything. Ignore the bed, it was freezing outside the night I put everything together lol

Looking at the pictures on their website looks like the tsp ory has a better merge/collector than the pacesetter ory.

The TSP ORY has an awesome merge. The headers were $175, the ORY was $150, motor mounts were $50, extensions were $30 but I got rid of them and bought Bosch Corvette o2's because every time the extensions got wet it'd cause the car to miss cause of the sockets. The EGR block off plate was $50 at the time but I have an ls6 manifold now so I don't need it lol

Just go to your auto parts store and ask for rear o2's for a c5 Vette. I think I've heard of a vendor on here who has them cheaper. Just like the eBay headers I've heard a lot of negative comments about the Bosch Vette o2's as well but like the headers I've had zero issues with them. Guess I have a lucky car lol
