Default Muffler replacement gains?

Hi Fellas,

I bought my car with a Flowmaster 3" catback system on it. The car has a Hooker 3" ORY, no cats. The tips are like new and I'm debating on taking out the 80 series muffler and putting in a Magnaflow in it's place. My mods are below. Has anyone been in a similar boat and if you changed it, what did you gain in HP/TQ?
I'm not concerned with sound reduction, just power gains if any.

Thanks

Most of the time you won't pick up anything from switching out a muffler, but since you have a choke master muffler on there, which is almost as bad as the stock muffler, you might pick up 1-3HP, but nothing you're ever going to feel in your pants.

I picked up 7 rwhp going thru my cutout instead of my flowmaster catback with the 80 series. I dont have it anymore, couldnt stand the tips.

Yeah but you completely bypassed the cat-back system with a cutout. If you switch mufflers you won't pick up near that much.

Yeah, mine is an exaggerated case, but big gains. Dyno'd 429/422 on a flowmaster... 383 ls6 with a baby cam, typhoon intake, pacesetter lts. Switched to fast 102, tsp lts, tsp ory, MAGNAFLOW catback and gained 33/38 and it was all throughout the curve.

... Who am I kidding, that's apples to pinecones. Do it, its a great change

Not to bring an old thread back up but Ice and I have been talking and I will end up doing a custom exhaust on his car with a custom H pipe back to a set of custom mufflers. All tubing will most likely be out of oval exhaust tubing to tuck the exhaust up under the car for better ground clearance. He just has to decide on which mufflers he is going to run

Hush Beaner. Go back to the Vortex lol. Did the color come back to your face after a few gears worth of the T/A?

Yes you are very right, I have been told and shown how shift correctly I just can't afford to break stuff on a daily driver. I never had any traction issues though
