Ok well tried cleaning the maf again but still no luck. So im gonna buy a new maf sensor. Is there a specific brand i sbould get? Or a good place to purhase one? I saw an ac delco sensor (which i thought was gm's brand of parts??) )there but wasnt sure if it was a good brand to buy.

I cleaned the maf (twice to be exact and there did seem to be some debris on the screen but none that i could tell on the sensor wires themselves) with crc maf cleaner. I also cleaned the entire area the filter sits in as well and let it dry an entire day before i put the cleaned maf back in again but still nothing. I have a k&n filter which i heard can be an issue as well if it is over oiled as well so i was thinking of replacing it. Im just at the point now where it seems like the maf is the only other option unless someone knows of anything else that would cause the maf trouble code to come up.

RandePandy did you fix your P0101 issue?
I am having a similiar problem. I have a '99 z28, stalled with no warning in traffic, doesn't idle without giving constant gas, running extremely rough and sounds like a tractor, has white exhaust, it is getting fuel at rail, showing P0101 code. Cleaned K&N Filter as well as cleaned stock MAF sensor, reset code, started again, still the same. Ran it without MAF sensor and it still ran rough. Does anyone have any insight or suggestions on what to test next?

Are you guys taking out the four bolts to the housing of the MAF and spraying the sensor directly? Sometimes there is a lot of stubborn crap on there and you can't really get it with the screen in the way. Try removing it from the housing and cleaning it. Just be careful and don't break any of the wires.

I didnt take the screen off but cleaned it pretty well with a q-tip. The sensor wires look pretty fragile. I've heard the K&N filter oil eventually gunks it up. K&N has been on there for about 6 years. I wonder if soaking it in something would also work. I'll take a look at it again.

OMG! A q-tip!!!??? You remove from housing and just spray it. The only other thing I can think of guys is the idle air control valve...
