Okay so the idea popped in my head to get true duals on my '98 firebird formula.
I went up to the local muffler shop and talked to the guy.
He said he wouldn't be able to do true duals because of clearance issues![Cry](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_cry.gif)
But he did say something about a different set up.
He said he could run both exhaust pipes into one pipe and then make it into two pipes at the back? Maybe something like that.
Has anyone ever heard this or had it?
Plus, I'd like to do a cat delete, good or bad idea?
Thank you

Look up an SLP loudmouth, thats what you would get. And find a new exhaust guy, I ran 3 inch duals under the axle on my LT1 Bird and my friends LS1 Camaro had 3 inch duals over the axle with no panhard relocation. Any shop that says it cant be done is just lazy

Even the stock exhaust is setup like that.
IMO it's not worth the expense to go with a custom dual setup (and it CAN be done, there are guys on here who've posted pics, and Kooks even sells a dual kit...although it's like 1200 bucks).
Just go with a stainless cat-back for under 400 bucks (I love my Magnaflow) and call it a day. Unless you're removing your cats and installing long tube headers, your sngle exhaust isn't your restriction anyway.
IMO true duals are just for bragging rights unless you've got a seriously modded motor.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.
I'm still unsure of what to do.
I would like a cat back but my one catalytic converter is messed up and would like to do a cat delete.
But I have stock headers and y pipe.
Can I get an exhaust from y pipe back?
But i'm going to want to get LT headers and ory.
Should I just get my cc fixed and then think about it some more?

1) get a new cat
2)gut the cats
3) get a set of long tube headers.
No catback is going to solve your cat problem, "cat back" on these cars means the exhaust includes everything from the exit of the y-pipe to the rear of the car. There are not any cat-backs that INCLUDE a new y-pipe.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge.
Now I know better.
