Default LQ9 317s and LS6 Intake. Is the Intake choking me?

Cant afford fast setup so that is out of the question... I have a stock internal (cam coming) LQ9 and read that the ported LS2 will outflow my LS6... My question is: Does my LS6 choke the LQ9 as is? I know I will have to go to FAST to see full benefit of my cam but what about now? I have the opportunity to get an LS2 setup and want to know if it will benefit me better...The LS2 will be ported by me.

No, leave the LS6 and port it to 85mm if you want the most out of it. But to answer your question IMO yes it does. Ive done too much research and seen too many accounts first hand of solid double digit gains on cammed cars with anything about a LS6 (Typhoon, BBK, Weiand and of course FAST. What I would do If I were you would be to find a BBK or Typhoon and sell the LS6. I see the intake, rails and tb for $450 a lot of either brand, and both will gain above 4K over the LS6 with no low end loss

Going to the ls2 is a waste of time. You have to change other things besides the manifold IIRC, fuel rails and injectors are also different, as is the TB.

IMO either leave it alone or find a Fast used. No sense doing it twice when you decide again you want to get more out of it. The ls6 intake is a good intake, plenty of people run them to faster times than your car will see. But the Fast will always gain over the ls6...
