Default Ls1 intake on Lq4?

Would i run into any problems if i put an Ls1 intake on my Lq4 truck motor. I'm new to all this ls motor stuff, but i do know that i want to get rid of that ugly truck intake asap... are thier different years of ls1 intakes or are the all the same? i read a little about the coolant crossover tubes... are those an issue? my Lq4 is an '03 and it's the cable driven 3 bolt throttle body... also, will i be able to use my truck fuel rails and injectors?

Thanks.

you should be good. only trouble you might run in to is if you are running the truck water pump, you might have clearance issues. they are all the same but try to pick up an ls6 intake for a bump in power. im not sure about your rail/injectors

If this is goin in a car then its fine, itll all work...if this is in a truck, keep the truck intake. Yeah, its big and ugly, but it outflows the LS6 intake and makes more power everywhere than the LS6.

yea, i wondered about the truck intake making more power... this is going into a 68 bel air wagon... yes the truck intake is ugly, but it's not the end of the world and if it makes more power then it make it worth it... all i would need to find is a truck intake cover cause my motor came out of a van that didn't have room for a cover.

You can smooth out the top of the truck intake some and cut and grind off some of the unneeded bungs and paint it and it wont look too bad...I have seen some that look pretty decent but it does take alot of work.

i left the truck intake on my notch, tossed a vortec cover on it and its funny cause it confuses people when they see it. i think it works well though

Someone correct me so its clear but I was under the impression from other ppl on here that the truck intake does not flow aswell as the ls6 intake does up top and makes less peak hp but does make more low/midrange torque?

The ls1 intake on the lq4 would just be taking a step backwards I think.

The truck intake has longer runners than LS6 intakes...keeps the low end power up, and contrary to popular belief, it doesnt peter out about 6000 rpms...it pulls as far or farther than an LS6 does. I have seen it in person several times on my friends dyno.

There is flow data on the intake on the truck site.
http://performancetrucks.net/forums/...d.php?t=397720

If you look at the data, basically LS1 intake equals the truck intakes so you really gain nothing! The LS6 flows little better than the truck one. But the LS2 90mm 4 bolt truck intake flows as well as the LS6 and it bolts in place of the 3bolt truck intake.

The truck guys quit the LS1/6 intake swap years ago as it wasn't worth the trouble for minimal gains.

You have to run a LS1 car WP with spacers or swap the pulleys. Then you have to relocate the idle pulley for TB clearance. As well as run the LS injector rails and injectors. Then you have to switch the injector plugs to the car style or buy pigtails as the connectors are different between the intakes for the injectors.

Here is a pic of my 5.3 with truck accessories, 07 and newer truck water pump, and LS6 intake. I swapped the injector plugs to match the car injectors.

I think I've decided to keep my truck intake and try to find a vortec cover. Just a less expensive option.
