Question Exhaust Heat coming up through emergency brake?

Ok, I'm fairly new to the world of Camaros, so I thought getting your opinions would help.

My 02 SS once warm has a good amount of heat coming up through the hand brake opening. I did have a new catalytic converter put on recently.

Is this normal to have a stream of heat coming in, or possibly a prob with the cat install, or some sort of seal gone bad?

Thanks!

mine gets warm too . maybe some heat tape under there, as i recall the c6z in 06 had an issue or maybe it was longer than that year with heat from under the center console.

Check to see if the lower shifter boot is torn. Remove the center console not to hard just remove the shift **** and the 2 or 3 bolts inside the center glove blox and pull it up youll see a rubber shift boot and if its tore it will let alot of heat through.

Also im speaking mainly for a m6 car ive never owned or messed with a a4 and couldnt speak from experiance on them
