Default AIR pump disable question...

We came to the conclusion that this annoying *** humming noise from under the hood when i start up cold, is the AIR, so i was thinking of disabling it along w/ EGR when i bought my QTP LT's and Y-pipe...now here's the problem, i'm probably not going to be able to get the QTP's until next year. Can i still disable the AIR w/out getting and SES light? Also, does anyone know how this procedure is done or where i can find out how to do it? Thanks a lot!

Ok duhh...sorry about that, i found the removal procedures and it sounds mad easy...but i have another question for ya....can i remove JUST the AIR to get rid of that annoying noise and not worry about having to remove the EGR...also i will probably be due for emissions w/in a year or so. It says i will throw a code in a week or 2 of normal driving, now if i get called into emissions after this happens, can i re-instal the AIR system? Will it make the code shut off once re-installed or will the code stay on until i get it edited?? Thats all, thanks again for the help.

yes you can just remove air. you can re-install it back at any time and the code will go away. or have the code turned off with edit/predator/hp tuner

THats fine i dont mind the codes, i was just worried about re-installing the AIR and then the code staying on for emissions which would suck b/c then i'd have to do the edit and thats expensive when i was plannin on keeping the edit for after i do my headers/ypipe.

The only problem I could see is...if the SES light is on for something stupid like the AIR missing, how do you know when something else goes wrong?

Dont quote me on this one, but as far as i know the SES light is only in regards to emissions systems....and if i'm going to be the one tampering w/ it, i will know if something is wrong or not. And as for it being something that i didnt tamper w/ emissions wise...i think you would most likely feel something different in the way your car is running...or not for that matter.LOL AIR comes off tomorrow!

Will the SES light for the air pump cause any performance loss? I really want to take my EGR and Air off but i havent because i wanted to get the codes deleted first. Hey 99camaross did you buy block off plates?

Nope, my dad works at Precisions Metal Products and he said he'll let me come in and make my own plates. And no there is no perf. loss. Go for it...its just crap getting in the way!
