2.5 inch dumped duals
Im planning on going 2.5 inch dumped duals x pipe with some bullets. Now I know 2.5 is good say up to 500 hp but my question is will there be any noticeable difference in sound between 2.5 and 3? Plus my car isn't lowered and down plan on getting above 450 horse. Stock gears as of now. Is there a benefit of 1 over the other?

i wouldnt know any sound difference but im assuming your headers are going to be 3" collectors? why not just run it 3" all the way through, i also plan on getting the same setup as soon as i can get some money for it.

FWIW i went from 3" true duals to a catted-Y with a bullet muffler dumped before the axle and i can tell a difference in torque on hills and in low rpm.....seems like i may have lost a tiny bit of pull up top, but gained in torque from 2000-4500rpm.....when my car was dyno'ed i made 401 rwhp, but only 357 rwtq with the duals.....maybe 3" duals is a little overkill for a stock head, cam+bolt on DD....others probably already knew that but i was surprised.....if i had more mods or a stroker, i'd definitely go back to TD's

no need for 3 inch exhaust unless you're gonna run it all the way to the back. 2.5 is good for dumps and low hp street car.i had 2.5 pipes with 3 inch mufflers it felt better and louder then the 2.5 mufflers.also drove a camaro with 3inch exhaust dump before axle.400hp car alot of cabin noise on low rpm and speed.if i was you i would do a 2.5 exhaust with magnaflow x pipe and spintech mufflers or some borla i had experience with both mufflers and they sound good.

I've had it both ways. Running 2.5" now just so I could run under the axle. I have plenty of room though, if I would've known that I would've just kept it at 3". No difference at all in sound/performance..NONE. A 1/2" is hardly even worth talking about when it comes to flow/sound/performance. Add a super charger, turbo, nitrious with all other bolt-ons, then you might want to consider that extra 1/2".
