damaged cam bearing?????

Default damaged cam bearing?????

i went to remove the cam outta my 5.3 and it seemed to get stuck. the heads are off the lifter have been removed but i looked into the lifter holes and saw that a cam bearing seems to have been damaged. its stopping me from removing the cam. help!!!!!!! what can i do?

Take it to a machine shop they can replace them. Fairly cheap to do as well.

Do you have a closeup pic of what you saw...?

Do you mean the cam bearing is munged up and this is preventing you pulling the cam out...? Or has the cam bearing walked (dislocated)...?

both, i have a pic on my phone but snapbucket is being stupid right now.

yeah the inside of the motor was filthy but i was getting it hot tanked anyway. hince the reason for the teardown.

disregard, i got the bearing out and the journal was not scarred. i feel like i got lucky. had to remove pistons and rods number 5 and 6 to get to it. guess now i am just gonna do a full rebuild anyway. gotta pay to play.
