Default Ported Throttle Body Question

Hey guys, I don't post much because I can usually find the answers I'm looking for through seaching. But I'm kind of stumped right now.

I just bought an SLP ported throttle body a few days ago. After looking at it, I found out that it has the shorter 98-99 throttle arm. (I've got a 2000 Z28) I knew there was a difference in the 98-99 & 00-02 throttle bodies but I didn't think to ask before buying it since it's semi-aftermarket.

So my question is how can I make it work with my engine. I've looked over the throttle body & it doesn't seem like there is any way to disassemble it & change the throttle arm out. Is it possible to change out my throttle cable for a 98-99 throttle cable? If so is it very hard to do?

I love rare parts & I would like to be able to make it work. If someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

You will need to unbolt the TPS and IAC, you will need torx security bits for this. Then take the 2 screws out of the throttle blade and slip it out of the back. Make sure to take a look at how the spring is wound, then tap the end of the shaft with a hammer to release the washer from holding the shaft. Swap your original throttle arm/cam and reverse your steps to put it back together and loctite those TB blade screws...

FWIW I don't think you really need to worry about the size of the TB cam/arm...

Awesome. Thanks for the help.

I actually installed it on Saturday & there was quite a bit of slack in my throttle, so I pulled it back off & I realized that the throttle arm was smaller. I removed the sensors & the throttle blade like you said, but I didn't know that you could push the cam/arm assembly out without damaging the throttle body.

Yes you do have to worry about this...if you put the wrong year throttle body on the it will mess with the idle...I have done this before on my old 98 z28...put a ported 2001 throttle body on it and it idled at 3400 until we realized what happened and swapped the cams out.

Nope no traction control. I do have cruise control that clips onto the side, but that was easy enough to figure out.
