Default FLPs bang the floorboard

Any suggestions on how to fix this? It bangs in the middle of the ypipe--I can see the mark on the car where it hits. Is there something I can wedge between?

Thanks

Some people put exhaust tape in that spot and put a rubber shock bushing or some sort of rubber bushing to stop this problem. Call FLP and ask them what they do to stop this problem. Hope this helps..

The cleanest solution I have heard to this problem is welding a valve spring to the upper part of the y-pipe.

take a pry bar and bend the metal that its hitting against or just get a small piece of heater hose and wedge it in there.

Swap your drivers side motor mount to a polyurethane mount. This alleviated all the y-pipe banging problems on my car.

I could have this backwards....but wouldn't you want to put one on the passenger side if you do one at all. That way when the motor torques over and the driver side starts to lift (bringing the y-pipe with it tward the floorboard) it would be fighting against the poly mount on the passenger side trying to compress it, but unsuccesfully :dunno: I'm sure either way works though

LOL I just removed my Poly mount cause it rattled my teeth out and it still banged the bottom on the drivers side. I bent the small heat sheild that covers some metal tubes(brake lines I think) and now with the stock one back in it run sooooooooooo much smoother and no banging(for now) I love these headers.

I agree with 5150Z28 except that it was installed on the pasenger side and not the drivers side I guess it would work either way though. It solved our banging problem anyway. I would not use both poly mount as you can end up rattling your teeth out like fastmatt98 said. That fixes it for 90% of people any way.

Mine hits with the cats but not the ORPs on, some silicone heater hose and a hose clamp (put the hose clamp through the center of the heater hose) will work forever with the ORPs but only lasts a couple of months with the cats.

From what I have heard..Supposedly you are never gonna be able to get the banging to go 100% away..I have Hookers and ORYP and that is an issue I'm in the process of trying to fix....the best you can do is any of the above mentiones fixtures (valvespring, poly mounts, rubberhose)....I have polyurethane mounts and it still bangs..mainly when I get on it....I'll try wedging something up there....It's a small downside to having headers..but it's worth it....

Yeah, I like the FLPs since they tuck so well. My friends SLPs dont bang at all, but are damn near dragging on the ground. I mainly get a bang when I shift hard at high rpms, ie: at the track. With the upcoming D1SC install, I can only imagine the bang to thud even harder--so yes, I am going to try most of the above

Thanks for the tips
