Default Different mufflers and tips

Okay guy's i'm looking for some feedback and opinions here. First, I have a full long tube, ORY, and SLP LM 1 resonator exhaust. Secondly, I also have the dual/dual SLP tips. Okay I DESPERATELY need to get rid of the rasp lol. I like loud, but this crazy loud (i'm sure the HCI doesn't help lol) and extreme raspy sound at part throttle has to go. What would you guys recommend on a budget? Would replacing the LM 1 with a LM 2 make a pretty big difference...especially with the raspy part? What other budget friendly options can I look in to? Also, i'm not really digging the dual/dual SLP tips. What's the general consensus on the best looking tips for the LS1 Camaro? I'd like to stick with SLP, but am definitely willing to consider other options. I'm kind of liking the 3 and 3.5 inch SLP tips, but not sure what length tip would look best. Again what length tip looks best on these cars? I just got the car a few weeks ago (came from a Mustang) and am new to the whole LS scene. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mufflers, you can use the LM2 or Borla and Magnaflow both have direct replacement mufflers that'll work - search for some sound clips

On a Camaro, CME ftw - 6le (sponsor on here) makes a kit with tips and valance or you can easily find a used system in the classifieds

As for tips, get the 2.5" inlet dual 3.5" outlet Corsa Clones. I believe eworldsales1 on eBay sells them still.

But the MagnaMouth sounded leaps and bounds better than that damned hollow pipe. I know your pain right now.

Some have reported less rasp from changing from the quad style tips to the single tips. No first hand experience however on my part.

Thanks guys! Dr Whigham, nice right up! Most everyone seems to point me towards Magnaflow. In terms of loudness in general how would you rate it?

It's still loud, but it has a deep bass to it you completely miss with the hollow chamber of the LM1 (LM1 has NO packing) and it's not as harsh. Like I said, you finally get a system that has tone.

If you have a newer system though that's not welded like mine was it's a fairly simple swap.

Gotcha! Well what's weird is that it looks like my muffler is welded on one end, and clamped on the other end...I don't get that at all lol. So do you think I would still get a similar lope from my cam with the Magnaflow? I REALLY like the choppy bada$$ idle it has now...I would hate to lose a good portion of that.

It's still going to sound good and chop.... And hear me out on this.... I'll bet you cam sound right now isn't such a chop as it is a "chap". You're running no muffler right now. Put that Magnaflow in, I believe part # 14419 and it will sound worlds better.

Think "chump-chump-chump" instead of the harshness you have now. I know, shitty alliteration, but it's the best I could come up with.

Completely forgot I had this video. Here's a cold idle start up when I was full bolt ons, no heads or cam yet.

Very nice, thank you! I get what you mean about the sound of the cam with what I have now, and you are kind of right actually. It does have a wicked idle, but it is sort of "higher pitched like" if that makes sense lol. So basically you just cut out the old LM resonator and put in the Magnaflow in it's place correct? I'm thinking this may be exactly what i'm looking for. I do like LOUD a lot, but I hate rasp, so this seems like a good cheap solution based on the info you have given

It will improve but not cure the rasp. Rasp is a function of the ORY merge.

Do you have long tubes and a ORY by chance?

Yea, tsp headers and ory. The lm1 wasn't bad till I bought headers. Then I had to get the muffler immediately

Yes that Magnamouth sounds MUCH better lol! It still sounds pretty damn loud when you punch it, but a much much better tone from what I can hear. Any drawbacks or complaints about the Magnamouth over the SLP?

With the long tubes and ORY it just sounds plain *** weird at times lol. Really raspy one minute then it smooths out, then sounds like a diesel truck on decel, etc...lol. The idle and WOT is where it really shines and sounds awesome, but unfortunately that may constitute 5% of the total driving experience lol

Exactly. No real complaints actually at car shows and events I feel like a girl, cause the idle is so much quieter then than the other muscle cars. No complaints, I just want duals. The muffler is of the highest quality as well. Definitely worth the swap.

Idk about you, but I really LOVE that LM1 sound with headers. Its music to my ears, although some of you might hate it, I love it!
