How did you adjust the fans? Some have installed the Hypertech and Predator and they have not held the tune... Also, the temperature guages in our cars have been known to be false pretty often and just read around 200 degrees all the time once it warms up.

I would then say use some type of scanner and check the actual fluid temp if you can/want. Again, our temp. guages have been known to false read.

99+ temp gauges are idiot lights, basically.

from 185-228 they should point to 210, not sure why yours runs at 195?

As already mentioned, the 98 has a real gauge from 99 and up they just
show a "normal" reading.

The 160 stat just means it opens earlier, at 160 instead of a higher temperature. It will not keep the engine coolant temperature lower than
what the operation of the engine calls for, due to driving conditions etc.

It just opens sooner, which should translate to cooler running, but giving
certain conditions, it will still run at normal operating temperatures.

Gauges on a 98 are not that accurate either!
