I believe if you get rid of the EGR valve you will throw a check engine light, so you will need to get it tuned to eliminate the light. Not sure about the rest, but there should be a sticky on it.

If you grind the bottom of the LS6 then it should just replace the old one. Removing EGR will make it easier and you will not have to drill a new hole in the intake. But, if you don't grind down the the bottom of the LS6 you will need the LS6 coolant crossover kit. I got mine from Texas Speed. There's alot of good info on this site and google on this process I think there's even some YouTube videos. Good luck
i used a wood chisel and hammer on those fins. they knock off very easily. after knocking all them off as flush as i could get them i hit it with some 100 grit? (found it in the garage) sandpaper. it turned out stellar.
