I apologize for bringing this back from the dead, but from my search results, this had the most relevant information.
I have been cleaning up my engine bay by deleting the stuff I never use,and I'm considering deleting the cruise control, but I kinda want to keep the traction control.
If I use the single throttle cable method, can I be rid of the black box,or does the traction control operate through that as well?

Traction control is near the battery, and cruise is down by the driver suspension. Separate cable for each. TCS has two cables: Pedal>TCS unit>Engine. Cruise should only have a single cable from the module to the engine. Crap my memory is fogging, so maybe someone can confirm.

On my 2000 traction control and cruise all T together into the box next to the battery. My 02 didn't come with tcs so I have two completely different cables. Unless they're a way to modify the box at the battery to remove the cruise cable the only way I see of doing it is to remove both and go with a single cable.
