How does a computer go back and return itself to a previous setting just because it is not connected to power? Care to shed some light on the subject?

Just stumbled across this thread, I have a setup that runs for a second and dies, but the tune (I have hp tuners) has the VATS to none, battery has been off the car for about 7 months, just did a whipple build, now nothing.
