Default Cracked Radiator, aftermarket suggestions

Just found out my radiator is cracked and is the reason why my Camaro is overheating. I dont want to put a crappy stock radiator in to replace the old. I hear LT1 radiators are larger/better for cooling and fit no problem.

Does anyone have any aftermarket radiator suggestions?

Yes, LT1 radiators have slightly more capacity.

If you have the bucks, go for the BeCool radiator. It's substantially better and looks trick. All aluminum, no plastic tanks.

+1 for becool only slight modification needed to bottom tray to make it fit. Just make sure you get plugs for the extra ports on both sides of the radiator, they dont send any plugs with the radiator.

I had the BeCool, and it is nice, but if you want the top of the line. The Ron Davis unit is really nice. Larger overall area and higher fin count per inch.

Becool on the left and Ron Davis on the right.

I was having cooling issues, which this by the way did not fix. The recent rebuild likely did though.

I had oil temps hitting 320 after 15 minutes on track.

Should I show you my $450 Ron Davis oil cooler that goes with it too!

I also modded a Spal dual fan to fit in the stock location, it is my favourite part. It integrated so nicely.

For your car I would go with the integrated oil cooler vs the separate one I did. Mine is set up for track days and I need to keep it cool for 30 minutes flat out. At least that is the goal.

That does look very very nice. I know where I'm getting my next Monte radiator from!

I'm certain it's more expensive than the BeCool unit. The BeCool unit should be capable for all but the most modified LS engines so for bolt on cars, the BeCool is fine.

Their both waaay better than the stock plastic style crap.

ww thanks for all the replies. Those radiators are nice and beefy! (be cool & ron davis) But both are sadly out of my price range. Is there anything better than a NEW LT1 radiator for a similar price? Thanks

My h/c/i car ran around 210 but would sometimes jump as high as 225. After the LT1 radiator it never goes over 195.

I fought my original radiator with a slow leak for a year or two. Originally I wanted a LG SuperCool (which at that time they still had extras in storage) or a Ron Davis Racing unit. But after reading horror stories about others having to send their expensive radiator back to RD for leak repairs and having the car be down while waiting, it wasn't worth the risk for me. The short warranty (if any) period on the units also turned me off.

So I decided to go with the OEM LT1 radiator. But to get a good price on one I would need to have it shipped from Wisconsin; so I took a chance on an aftermarket LT1 unit with the thicker core from my local Advance Auto... think I paid around $60 out the door for it. It's only been on the car since late summer, but so far it's worked out great. I don't participate in RR or HPDE's.

So to me it was a between 1) paying $700+ for random poor craftsmanship, car being down for weeks if a warranty repair is honored or 2) using a $60 93-96 style LT1 radiator from a local parts store which would be more practical for me.
