Default ss lower airbox, porting or alternative

Gents,

Just got the car tuned and we noticed that the SS lower airbox inlet is becoming a touch restrictive. I'd rather not go with an out the bottom ram air setup ans was wondering if anyone had ported the stock SS box or used an alternative like the ws6.

Popping the lid and removing the filter got me about 7 hp, final dyno numbers here: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?p=16908993#post16908993

Thanks for the input.

I've played with shimming it up. The inlet cross section
area is larger than stock TB and stock MAF but with
how skinny it is, a bit of height will be significant.

The WS6 is too tall and the hood will hit the lid.

Just curious, why not a bottom feeding ram air?

I've got my transcooler down there and don't want to cut into the car for a few hp.

That said, if I can't port the lower it may be what I have to do because the FTP 104 lid leaves no extra space.
