Default BBK Headers and ORY, A+ product!

Okay, so after 2 weeks of working on my car for 2-3 hours every day I finally finished my BBK Headers and Poly Motor Mounts install. The motor mounts... nightmare doing it by yourself (all I can say is the spare jack saved my @$$).

As far as the BBK Headers, anyone that has looked at them and even considered buying them - I HIGHLY recommend it. I installed these headers by myself on jackstands and I had absolutely no problems with these headers. They went in clean the only thing they were hitting on was the passenger side catalytic converter shield (which I removed) and the other reason they hit was the motor mounts lifted up the motor a little bit. The Y-pipe mated perfectly, the only problem I had which was more focused toward my slp lm1 because it was a bit short. A 4'' sleeve from napa fixed that though. My headers tuck up so high its not funny, as high if not higher than the stock exhaust. The Y does sit close to the body but the poly motor mounts prevent them from smacking. I have approximately 4'' of room at that point in y-pipe (I'm on 1'' lowering springs from an 02 SS).

To sum this up for a $400 exhaust set up ($360 if you had picked it up from that WS6store.com black friday sale, yes I got chrome I rarely drive the car). You can't go wrong with this set up for the fitment. The headers are clean on their design unlike the slp which go all over the place, and with these headers I was able to access every plug from ontop of the motor. Yes, even that shitty one in the back of the passenger side.

Attached is a video right after the install, and the next day. If anyone has any questions on installing these feel free to pm me and I will help you any way I can.

I also have bbks in chrome and they seem like a good quality set of headers. I put mine in in June and drove it all the time since then through rain and whatnot and they're holding up pretty good.

Nice to hear of a happy customer who didn't have to spend 1200 bucks on a set of headers. Congrats.

1 3/4. A lot of people lean away from these because the y pipe is 2.5 inch. Considering what I was working with on my stock exhaust this 2.5'' y pipe is amazing. Not to mention what good is a 2x 3'' pipes going into a single 3'' merge. I do plan to on running true duals once I go towards my head/cam package but i'm just going to have a shop cut the y pipe and start an x pipe off those 2.5'' pipes.

I to have these BBK Chrome headers on my T/A.. They will have been on the car for 2 years in march. Have about 6,000 miles on them here in NJ and there is not a spot of Rust on them. There is some discoloring but its not bad at all. My car is garaged but I do drive it in the rain and even snow sometimes as well. It does have a 2.5 inch y-pipe but there is no ground clearance issues, and no banging up on the floor board issues. They are by far the best bang for the buck out there. My car just dynoed 448rwhp and 445 rwtq on a 383 with a pretty big cam and pretty much stock 243's and a Stock LS6 intake and TB.

Exactly. Most people do not understand that 2.5" y-pipe will be fine for most every LS1.

Will the 1 7/8th be that much more over 1 3/4. Eh, for the cost, not in my opinion. Then again I am not looking for every last hp - max effort car. The chrome version of the bbks are a deal and a half. Especially for the no banging y-pipe option.

Yeah had the same problem, I could of either cut off the ID on the old y pipe but I just went to napa and grabbed a sleeve. Will hold me over until i get my magnamouth on because its longer than lm1.

I have the chrome one as well on my SS and love them. They have been on since April and only have a slight bluish tint. The only issue I ran into was the passenger side header jammed up against the floorboard. (w/ heat shield removed) The driver side had great clearance though. I just massaged the passenger side floorboard a little and was able to get a little more than a 1/4 inch of clearance, no big deal. All in all, a great set of headers for the price!
